But what do we mean by that?
Domestic abuse consists of controlling, coercive, threatening, degrading or violent behaviour by a partner. It may include harassment or stalking – either in the real world or online
In the vast majority of cases, it’s women who are the victims, and men are the perpetrators.
But men can also be victims
The Respect Men’s Advice Line says the pandemic has worsened the problem. Violence against them has increased, and so too has psychological abuse.
And often, due to COVID–19 restrictions and lockdowns, there is nowhere for men to go. Some men have had to sleep in their cars or in tents in their friends’ gardens.
